oh, my! What's going on? Yeah, I know, it doesn't always feel comfortable or regulate itself well... but it shouldn't have to be painful! Happy to help, if I can! I have the enormous Breastfeeding Answer Book (all 800 or so pages=)
A nursing career of 60 months so far, and I'm still really terrible at it. God gives the means, but turns out my babies and I are still really stupid people.
Sorry you're having a trying go, friend. :( I hear breast milk is magical. You might try smearing it all over yourself to see if that helps.
Not all nursers are created equal unfortunately. Tongue tied? High palette? Check it out. I know a mom after six kids bfing just didn't work anymore and she had more desire to nurse than I ever did. Sigh.
I had such a hard time with one of mine that I finally just pumped my guts out. It was a time-consuming hassle, but better than putting the kid on formula.
Somehow, it's not fair that no matter how long our nursing career has been, every babe arrives a hapless newbie, and it's initiation for mother and babe all over again.

We're getting there. I think. :P Ask me again in six hours.

So it's been six hours...how's it going now? ;)
And the next morning?
I'm sorry it's a rough time. :(
Slowly, slowly said the sloth. Both sloths, in fact.
