The past couple days, "we" have played with worms, grasshoppers, cicada shells, and frogs, in addition to the usual mud, rocks, and sticks. One of my favorite moments of the week: I was cooking supper when the resident 4 yr old BoyChild announced, "Cricket" and deposited a large one on the counter. I'm fine with crickets, but they do have beady little eyes up close and personal, and I prefer them a little farther from the food prep...
Haven't gotten into toad entrails yet, thank goodness. Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing toads in our yard.
Cicadas (locusts) are plentiful. ManChild carries the newly hatched fellows on his head, for they are his friends. This would be fine, but that they leave goo (GOOOOOOOOO) in his hair and I really hate bath time.

Toads do not squat here. For this, I am grateful.

Plenteous toads in these parts. Interesting, I object to crickets on the basis of goo.
