Thank you for reminding me. A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knows nothing. She is boisterous and rebellious, Her feet do not remain at home. She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it. (Proverbs 5:6, 7:11, 9:13)
Oops--I should at least mention the other kind of woman. The one who looks well to the ways of her household, whose children rise up and bless her, whose husband also praises her. She's believes charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but that a woman who fears the LORD, shall be praised. Now I feel better.
Ironic that they think they can "make history" when they are outside of the home not raising a Godly heritage that will indeed be the future generation that will later become history itself. Also it is the generations that regard their mother and father as the most important pieces in their history (other than God). Some might make history books that will one day be irrelevant, but others make actual history that turns into the future and the members of eternity. haha, nothin like preachin to the choir.
In response to Melrose's comment: You cannot assume that being outside of the home precludes raising a Godly heritage. This statement might be construed as limiting God for surely He can work through my circumstances that require mother is outside of the home for some portion of the 24 hour period. I really don't construe that Melrose's comment was intended with the smugness it might portray. We're all trying to work toward the same end in raising our blessed children (even though our works are futile) whether we do that at home 24 hours a day, 16 hours a day or 8 hours a day.
Dear Anon - I work outside the home. I have babies. I did not take offense to Melrose's comment because I'm well aware (hopeful?) that it's possible to raise a Godly heritage EVEN THOUGH I'm away from my little ones for 50-ish hours a week. That leaves me 118 hours a week to be the best mom I can be, to set the best example for my kids, and I make the most of it.
Can't do that if one is out "making history" aka being boisterous and rebellious, etc.
No offense was taken, not in the least bit. I realize the blog authors have solid opinions that they have not arrived at without sincere deliberation It's just the "either or " line of reasoning that can smack of pomposity to a fledgling mom.
Anon, you must have missed Rebekah's post to misunderstand my comment in such a way. See ILL-BEHAVED women outside the home to which my "they" was directed.
Cuz I can think of a lot of really famous well behaved women. In fact, I can think of way more famous good women than bad. I call BS on the stupid assertion that bad girls are history makers. Of course we know the devil is a liar, anyway.

And ill-behaved history makers are, by and large, prostitutes and paramours.
How spunky, how free, how utterly not-humiliating and painful to be a prostitute or paramour! Whee!
I giggled in quite an unbecoming way at that comment, gauntlets.

Chicks that will live in infamy
Well behaved women rarely make history.
Really?
