Smurf blue could be seen by some as a bit of an obnoxious color. However, I am certain your friend was only considering your baby's abilities to see bright colors. That and the color's uncanny ability to light a hallway at 3am. I know; I have a pair!
There have indeed been some comments made on the topic of blueness. I know such comments are motivated by envy and/or fear, as my friend is a lady of unimpeachable taste.
