I did something really, really terrible. A few months ago, I threw all the mismatched socks in the TRASH.

I can only bring myself to do that about once every two years. It's a gut-wrenching experience.

I'm pretty sure we have the match to every single one of those

Our's all go into a box and every so often someone gets brave and matches a few. My mother-in-law always loved matching socks when she came to visit.

However, mismatched socks have found a new job at our house they are wonderful for polishing/shining shoes and dusting furniture.

It might help avoid the gut-wrenching experience.

Those socks make good blackboard erasers, dust cloths, cleaning rags, etc. They fit on the child's hand, so he doesn't drop them while wiping the shelf, sink or mirror. The kids think it is fun. Suckers!

Gauntlets,

You need to give those to your husband for cleaning patches next time.

Yes, I am convinced there is a sock monster and perhaps I should trick - err..I mean...talk my kids into looking for him some afternoon while I enjoy a bowl of ice cream...err...oatmeal :)

Cleaning patches! And then the socks could go live in the basement! Eureka!

Those look like some great sock puppets just waiting to be discovered. :)
Actually, I use all old clothing as rags for cleaning, and this is only a problem because my husband doesn't want me to clean the toilet with a T-shirt he got in 5th grade that has holes in the armpits...

Gauntlets,

That's the best laugh I've had all day. Seriously, thank you!
