It's that time again

Does anyone else deal with this? My hair starts falling out in fistfuls right about the time the baby gets serious about growing to Kraken-ish proportions. It's terrible. There's not enough Drano in all the world.

We're not going to lose the Enterprise! Not to the Borg!
Not while I'm in command!

Not so much during pregnancy, but quite a bit afterward, while first nursing. Definitely not fun, but happy to deal with that considering the end results. :)

Around these parts, we have found that this stage in baby growth is best dealt with not by means of Drano, but with those $2.99 jagged plastic sticks you push down the drain and pull back up.

Have you had your thyroid checked recently? I had the same problem and was walking around with an undiagnosed thyroid condition. Now that it's under control there is far less hair to clean out if the drain:-)

I had the same problem after baby #3. Fortunately I have so much hair that I was the only one to notice, but the amount I lost everyday was crazy. It stopped just in time to get preggo with #4 ;P

I'm pretty convinced I'll be completely bald if I outlive my fertility. (My thyroid is fine.)

And here is another perfect example of why I come to this favored blog of mine. It is so good to be able to admit that at 6 months post-delivery, I begin to lose fistfuls of hair. It's happened with all 5 children. When I tell this to anyone they smile and tell me what will stop this from happening, ie stop having children. I will lose the hair and take the baby, but it is so nice to be able to 'let my hair down' among you understanding women, even if there is not much left to let.

Heather, that is a good point. I have to hand it to the world--I am loath to disclose my sorrows to any of its inhabitants. While I am saddened when a sister in Christ who shares my convictions sneers at how poorly I bear my cross, I absolutely cannot stand to have someone who doesn't get it inform me all my problems would end if I'd just quit getting pregnant. So they don't get to hear about my problems at all. Well done, Others.

Double whammy: for me, at least, it seems like the hair-clumps begin falling right around when I'm getting really frustrated about baby weight still hanging on and around. :P

I've had this happen eight times! And right after baby comes. I thought I was going to be bald too; and never be done changing diapers! But the hair's grown back and the diapers are done. What a high calling we have :)

I enjoy your blog :)

Yup, around five or six months every time. My healthy, thick pregnancy hair too shall pass.

I have to rake the carpet on my side of the bed and remove small rodents from the shower drain. I am with you.

I cut my hair in a pixie before the last one and that helped a lot, and I love the style too. :)

The poor vacuum cleaner as well :(

Sigh, I feel like my dog. She loses her hair as summer approaches and then, as her new coat grows in during winter, her summer coat falls out. (which at least is much less...being that she's a giant)

When I have a babe growing within, for about the first 14 weeks my hair falls out. Not in masses, just enough that it's like I'm losing my thinned out coat and my hair suddenly grows like crazy and is super strong. Sigh. Then right around 4-6 mo pp...oh my word, I need a net over the drain to catch what comes off my head! :p
