Riddle me this

Why don't they just make all the passenger seats in a car face backwards?

Is that one of those zen questions that are supposed to clear your mind of extraneous thought?

Some of those vans with captain seats in the middle do (you can spin the seats around). However, benches fit more kids...

After the new baby comes, we will have maxed out our carseat room.

As we know better, we do better. But it's pretty hard to argue with the laws of physics and statistics that show that children under the age of 2 are 5x safer in a rear-facing carseat and that car accidents are the number one cause of death in children.

Signed, the mother of a 2 1/2 year old that looks slightly "crunched up" in her RFing carseat, but positively terrified in a FFing one.

:( hmm my almost 15 mo old was just turned forward because the kid positively does not fit facing rear. He couldn't straighten his legs at all and since his legs were all crunched up he couldn't even move them side to side. I know I sure wouldn't be comfortable like that. We have to drive 45 min to go anywhere and he would scream the ENTIRE way. Now that he's forward he's happy as a clam. darn it. I don't understand how everyone is able to keep their kids rear facing for so long!

sigh. i saw the video and I can't argue I just don't know how to make the kid more comfortable :(

Good question!

Our carseats recline a bit and my two year old has plenty of leg room RF. Even when my son was three he was able to fit RF so maybe see if your seats can be adjusted somehow.

When we were younger, our station wagon had a seat in the "way back (as we called it)" that faced backwards. We loved sitting back there! It was fun to watch the faces of everybody driving behind us.

Melrose - If a mysterious yet sort of familiar sounding name shows up in your FB friend request box, it's me. I might be able to help you...

Ooooooooor maybe I'll second guess myself and realize that maybe I had the wrong person. Maybe someone can hook us up via email or FB or something (hint, hint).
