Invidia

My husband has never expressed any interest in the famously transcendent maternal experience. If he wonders what it's like to sustain a human life with only the power of one's own by the grace of God, he hasn't mentioned it (to me, anyway. Maybe he talks to the vicar about it).

What he mentions often is how much it annoys him that I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want, and either not have to worry about the weight gain because it's supposed to be happening, or actually lose weight. :D

It can be hard on a marriage, though. Our family motto for a number of years now has been "Gluttony loves company." It's such a downer when your partner in eating is seized by a fit of temperance and says he's not coming to the ice cream party you've been planning all day.

I'm laughing out loud with you because I could have written this post! My poor husband tries so hard to maintain self control so that he does not gain pregnancy weight with me like he did in my first pregnancy. Then, the day I gave birth my stomach was instantly flat and the poor guy still had his. Now where did I put those cookies??? :D

Despite exerting no small effort in this department, I've never yet been able to make my husband gain an ounce while I'm pregnant or nursing. He's got this disgustingly great metabolism, as well as enough temperance to damper many an ice cream party. Which isn't to say that he's not a good sport; he's also "sacrificially" attended many a food fest on my behalf. :D

:D

I can usually beguile my beau into some brownies, if they're not too cakey. I think he eats the ice cream when I have my back turned.
