Hazards of marrying a liturgically fastidious type

--Whenever you see a guy in a stole and what you used to call an alb but now call a "cassock-alb" with a note of pity in your voice, you think, That looks weird. How LCMS. Wait, maybe he's a DP.

--
Your husband keeps getting fancy new togs while you've been trotting out your high school graduation dress for 12 Easters (except the ones you were too pregnant or postpartum).

Ninety six! Ninety six! Nine nine nine nine ninety six!

I don't know, it might really be time to retire this old girl.

lol, a little too hollywood for an Easter service? Yay for Our beautiful "mommy dresses" that we've had since our teen days!

Hee hee! Neither I nor our church are very Hollywood, it's true. Do not buy me anything, guileless readers!

My "Little Black Dress" is one that I bought for a funeral when I was a Sophomore (in 92 or 93) at Maurices. Are they still even in business?

DH laughs at me every time I dig it out to wear... ;)

The dress in the link looks like something I might wear of an Easter morning, but I'm not a mom, so maybe that doesn't count. :-) And hey, I would sew you a dress but I don't think there's time. Maybe next year. I love making clothes for mommies.

I've been wearing the same coral sheath that I bought for the Rev.'s Sem graduation...seriously...look at any online picture of me...same dress...pregnant, postpartum, in between...size 18W Kohls 2001...$30 well spent...but now I'm bored!

Ha! We're not so liturgically enabled as you, but it's true that I only recently retired my Senior athletic banquet dress and graduation dress.

MM, I believe Maurice's still has the corner on the "single fashionable store in tiny urban centers" market, based on the last two places I've seen them.

Thanks anyway, Anan. I wish I could tell you what size I'll be next Easter. :D

Dakota Pam, boredom is a danger of thrift. :P

RM, if you sent yours off to the happy dressing rooms, I feel justified in letting mine join up. Thank you.

I'm totally jealous that any of you can still fit into dresses from teen days. Ack!

My mommy body is way too different.....thanks to laziness to workout, eating too much, and well.....babies.

Oh, thank you Glenda, took the words right out of my mouth. That was starting to get depressing!

Right now I'd be more than thrilled just to be able to wear the clothes I wore LAST year. :(

If it interests anyone at all to know, I am taking the bull by the horns yet again! Having licked the unhealthy eating monster, for the most part, I am going on the offense against the next nasty, lack of exercise.

My thyroid imbalance has played a huge role in my fluctuating weight/size, mostly going UP. I have come to the conclusion that I have to get in the exercise habit too, or this thing's going to get me.

I've been told it is entirely possible for a mom to have six-pack abs, even after eight kids. After you pick your jaw up off the floor, realize that while I've never had that and may never attain it (not my goal anyway), that very concept is what is driving me at the moment.

Mantra: I WILL be healthy for my kids, I WILL be healthy for my kids...

I'm another one who would LOVE to be able to wear anything from either of my graduations or from before baby #3. That's when my body seemed to begin irrevocably changing.

I loved the dress from my college graduation. I saved it until about three years ago. It would even be in style this spring, but, woe is me, it would still be three sizes too small.

If only I had known in college what I know now, I would have bought everything with nursing openings.

These days, there is no such thing as a cute, affordable nursing dress. It. Does. Not. Exist.

PS to Rebekah: I actually really like that dress. How about we just arrange for a clothing exchange? I have a black number (no nursing openings) covered with roses that would really bring out the fire in your eyes. ;)

Glenda, Pam, and Jane, The dress is made out of Lycra and Spandex. I take up approximately 25-30% more space now than when I bought it, but it just stretches to accomodate. I wore the thing to my grandmother's burial at 8 months pregnant....
